A Long-Tail Keywords, in the context of empowered marketer, an uncommon or infrequently searched keyword, that refers to a targeted keyword phrase that contains two or three or more words. In terms of keyword optimization, long-tail keywords allow your content and site to show up for more specific searches. Visitors that land on your site by searching a long-tail keyword are more likely to be engaged with what your content is offering. Make sure when choosing a long-tail keyword to check what the search volume and keyword difficulty are like for the keyword. A long-tail keyword has potential to bring in more qualified leads, but it is useless if nobody is searching for it . Small businesses should consider targeting long tail keywords, as they are lower difficulty and often have more qualified searchers. Common keywords such as ‘software’ are more competitive, and very hard to rank high for them in search.
The keyword phrase is longer in length and hyper-specifically matches a user search query. A long tail keyword get less searches per month but has a higher search intent, and typically less competition by companies looking to serve up content to that search query. For example, a regular keyword might be “austin web designer” but a long tail keyword would be “affordable austin web designer that makes WordPress sites”.
